Things No One Tells You About Nag Tibba Trek, Uttarakhand

Nag Tibba is at an elevation of 3,022 metres (9,915 ft) the highest peak in the lower Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Nag Tibba is not the only name of the summit. Also, there is a temple of “Nag Dev”(the God of Snakes) on the way to the summit.

Things to know about Nag Tibba Trek

  • Nag Tibba summit is the highest peak in the lower Himalayan region of Uttarakhand
  • The real name of the summit is “Jhandi Top”
  • There is no direct frequently public transport for the Patwari village
  • There is no shop at the base camp and you will have to arrange the food on your own. Or you will need to hire a cook/guide for the trek
  • There are some villagers on base camp who offer a meal for the travellers and sometimes they come down to the village. So, you will need to confirm the availability first
  • There are several travel vendors who offer the camp accommodations on the base camp. You can just talk to them if you don’t want extra efforts
  • Nag Tibba trek to the base camp is a natural 3 km trek and It may take you around 1,5 – 2 hours to reach. also, full of elegant nature views

It was my first day at Pantwari village, Uttarakhand after an overnight journey from Gurgaon. I reached there in the early morning and a shop was open at around 5 am. People in the village are very kind and helpful. That shop keeper helped us to find a place to stay for a couple of hours. Also, arranged a guide for the trek.⁣

We started our trek after a power nap and breakfast. Though the distance of base camp from the Pantwari village is around 3 Km only. We decided to go slow while enjoying nature, and, stay at base camp for the night.


Nag Tibba Base Camp Experience


Luckily clouds helped us to move forward fast. we took around 1.5 hours to reach the base camp.
In the picture below, I was getting excited after looking at the summit in front of me. The snow was shining over the green trees and the view was spectacular.⁣

Nag Tibba Trek

We reached base camp at lunchtime and our guide arranged a place where we could pitch our tent. We met an Amma(old lady) there, who cooked rice and daal for us. The meal was delicious enough to send us for a power nap…(To be continued)
